Your contributions allow us to continue to provide beach cleaning activities in Jersey which are free to the public, maintain our equipment and insurances, and assist with the repatriation efforts for any future sea turtle strandings within the Channel Islands that may occur. Our committee and membership have decided to ring-fence a portion of raised monies for sea turtle repatriation following the successful rehabilitation effort of ‘Terri’ the loggerhead sea turtle in 2016. Having become stranded in Jersey, she was transported to Gran Canaria for further rehabilitation, where she was successfully released a few months later. Climate change, causing inclement weather patterns and global habitat destruction, is causing strandings to become more frequent and we would like to ensure that suitable funding and infrastructure are available to facilitate these efforts.
